In January 2009, Ms. Char and Mrs. Zapata met with a group of parents who were interested in volunteering in and around the school Ms. Char explained the different ways in which the parents would be able to volunteer. They were given a tour of the school and were put straight to work helping teachers and students!
Here is a list of the many ways that you may volunteer at the Godfrey-Lee Early Childhood Center. Tuesday is our volunteer day at the ECC. Please be advised that all volunteers must pass a background check prior to volunteering. Los voluntarios necesitan llenar una forma de su pasado.
Assist children 1 on 1 with alphabet/word recognition Assist a small group of children with reinforcing a skill Read to a child Listen to a child read to you Build a child's vocabulary in either English or Spanish Assist a child with the writing process Practice Math facts with a child or small group of children Work in the classroom to help children during center time Assist the teacher with assignment preparation Die cut papers Cut out lamination Make copies of notes Share a talent or hobby with a class Assist in the office with filing mail or answering the telephone Monitor the playground during recess Monitor the lunch room during lunch Assist with students during dismissal Engage students in active learning while monitoring a field trip Sort out lost and found items Assist with bulletin boards Set up or assist with the planning of holiday parties Bring recycled paper to the Paper Gator at Godfrey Elementary
